Excellent Tutorial
By Frank Cooper
This book is an easy to follow tutorial. The author has a clear writing style and explains the concepts well. It covers the most important C# and .NET Framework programming topics and is comprehensive and thorough in explaining the C# language, object-oriented programming techniques, and the .NET Framework class library. Sample applications can be downloaded from the publisher’s website and can easily be built using Visual Studio 2012 Express or the 2010 version.
I recommend this book to anyone learning C# and .NET.

No muss, no fuss.
By R. Pailliotet
I needed to refresh C# concepts and syntax to prepare for some .NET training. This fit the bill perfectly. You can get through this in a dedicated day or two. Very straightforward with no bloat or needless rambling.

Not very bad book, but there is much better
By Amazon Customer
Good overview of C#, most concepts were explained OK, but it definitely not very good tutorial for beginners, especially last 3 chapters: WPF, Polymorphism and Ado.Net.
Also it is quite frustrating that there is no any code tasks in order to help in understanding content of the book. Not even simple theory quizzes. There is almost no comparison of concepts with real word like in C# Joes 2 Pros, which help to digest new information.
And finally I was surprised with section "Throwing an Exception from a Method" from chapter 8. There was very confusing Listing 8.2, which didn't want to compile in my Visual Studio. I found out that the issue was in THROW keyword, because THERE IS NO THROWS in C#, it’s JAVA. It is a big blunder, especially for the beginner's book.
Bottom line: For beginners I'd better recommend Introduction to C# Joes 2 Pros, which has good Quizzes and Code Challenges and after that read Fundamentals of Computer Programming with C# (free programming books Book 1) which have very good Code Challenges. Also for beginners I can recommend The C# Programming Yellow Book which have informal style with many puns and jokes, which facilitate understanding. For anyone else there are quite a few better programming books.
