About the Author
Internationally recognized as a Bible scholar and spiritual patriarch, Derek Prince (1915–2003) was educated as a scholar of classical languages at Eton College and Cambridge University in England, and later at Hebrew University in Israel. While serving with the British army in World War II, he began to study the Bible as a philosophical work and, as a result, experienced a life–changing encounter with Jesus Christ. Derek Prince taught and ministered on six continents for more than sixty years, imparting God's revealed truth, praying for the sick and afflicted, and sharing his prophetic insights into world events in the light of Scripture. quick read, awesome

The shortest explanation of fasting I've ever read. REALLY good examples from scripture. I highly recommend.
If you are looking for something shorter and references to lots of scripture on fasting, Derek Prince's book is the way to go! You could easily read this booklet in an hour.
(If you want a really meaty discussion with lots of personal examples, check out Mahesh Chavda's book "The Hidden Power of Prayer and Fasting" If you are seeking to draw closer to Christ's heart, I highly recommend reading Bob Sorge's "Secrets of the Secret Place")
Fasting is incredible. I am so shocked at how often fasting is discussed in scripture. It is like adding a thermonuclear warhead to your prayers. It humbles you and draws you closer to Christ's heart!

Derek shows that God requires that we HUMBLE ourselves before Him; God also makes it clear that He gives grace or blessings (unmerited favor) to the HUMBLE. Can you use a blessing from the Lord?
If you wanted to cultivate true humility but did not know how, this is the book for you. Succinct, Scripture-based, practical and powerful, this book is fast-paced and very brief. It has given me the clearest and most convincing reason to fast.
